Odyssey of the Beast Tarot began with a pandemic. It challenges and plays with the ideas of beast and human, wild versus domesticated. How do we navigate a balance of instinct, critical reflection, and empathy during a shifting world? Learning to face uncertainty, the stories offered in Odyssey of the Beast Tarot are opportunities to ground, replenish, and cultivate cohesion between our nurture and nature.
Beast in the Head
Animals hold raw aptitude and instinct that is sometimes dismissed in society. Humans often intellectualize thoughts and feelings to distance themselves from inherent truths of the world. Hence, an animal head on the body empowers primal intuition; an intellectual instinct.
Human in the Body
Flesh is a reminder of physical needs, abilities, and sometimes limitations. Here, we lean into human body shapes and skin tones reflective of animals depicted. Their primal forms are grounded in natural nudity, leading us back to the wisdom of physical instinct.
This Tarot deck is a tool to help guide the journey back to ourselves, fusing the beast with the human.
